Born in the quite district of Deeside Trelawney, Mr. George Gardiner, affectionately called uncle Jimmy or Mr. Jimmy, decided to move to the hustle and bustle of the city of Montego Bay. It was there that he met and fell in love with Gloria who introduces him to the baking world. They both started their small baking business from their back yard using what we call here in Jamaica “fire a top and fire a bottom” (a process used to bake cakes, when you don’t have an oven) It was not long after that, he got a scullion job at the royal Caribbean hotel, and the Chatham Garden Hotel. After winning several awards at the Royal Caribbean hotel, he quickly worked himself up to head chef and was soon afterwards training other staff. He would eventually leave the hotel business to focus on expanding their small backyard business. It was from there that the now Jimmy’s Bakery and Pastry was born. Jimmy’s Bakery have been serving the public and the city of Montego Bay operating at the same location for over 50 years. Established in 1973
